I received a text message advising I've been issued with a parking fine - PCN

🚨 Scam text messages about parking fines
We’ve been contacted by a number of drivers who received text messages claiming they’ve been issued a parking fine. If you’ve received a similar text, please be aware this is very likely to be fraudulent.

📬 How genuine fines are usually issued

If a valid fine is issued, it will typically arrive by post (letter) or be left on the vehicle when you return to it.

🏠 Recently changed address?
If you think a fine might be real but you’ve moved recently, check directly with the named fine issuer on their official website (navigate to their site yourself or search for it). Do not click any links you’re unsure about in the text message.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has warned that scammers are sending fake DVSA parking penalty charge texts to drivers.

🛡️ What to do

  1. Report the message to the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
  2. Delete the text and block the number that sent it.
  3. Still unsure? Contact us and we can take a look for you.
