How does JustPark charge me for using Start & Stop?

Payment with JustPark Start & Stop is simple: we charge you at the end of your session. We don’t offer monthly invoicing or pay-monthly for these sessions.

▶️ How to use Start & Stop in the car park

  1. Find the Location ID: When you enter the car park, look for JustPark signs showing the Location ID, or open the app and use Current location on the map to view the Location ID.
  2. Tap Start to begin your session: Confirm the Location ID and your vehicle registration, then start the timer.
  3. Leave the timer running while you’re parked.
  4. Tap Stop when you return to your car: We’ll calculate the cost based on your actual parking time.

Grace period: After you end your session, most sites provide a 5–10 minute window to exit. Exiting later than this may lead to a parking charge issued by the car park’s enforcement. Always follow on-site signage.

🔒 Card authorisation (pre-authorisation) at start

When you start a session, we place a temporary card authorisation on your payment method. This is a standard check (similar to a taxi app or self-service fuel pump) to confirm your card can be charged when the session ends.
Depending on the car park, this hold can be up to the maximum daily charge for that location.

✅ When the session ends

  • We immediately send the charge for the actual time used.
  • We also immediately instruct your bank to release the held amount.
  • Your bank then returns the hold to you, minus the final parking charge.

Timing: The release of the held funds is handled by your bank and can take 3–5 working days, depending on who you bank with.

📝 Summary

  • Start: Find the Location ID, then place a temporary hold by tapping Start.
  • End: Tap Stop; we charge for actual time and tell your bank to release the hold.
  • Exit: Leave within the typical 5–10 minute grace period to avoid a potential charge (check on-site signage).
  • Refund of hold: Usually visible back in your account within 3–5 working days (bank dependent).
